About this project

200-250 MW synthetic gas fired power station and harbour facilities which we understand from the applicant are capable of handling the embarkation or disembarkation of large cargo ships carrying crude oil (approximately 11 million tonnes of material per year).

We understand from the applicant that these facilities are proposed to be developed in connection with a heavy oil processing plant. Since such plants do not presently constitute one of the types of nationally significant infrastructure projects in the Planning Act 2008, the Planning Inspectorate does not currently have jurisdiction to accept an application for such a project. Accordingly, the applicant informs us that they are seeking either an order or a direction from the relevant Secretary of State for the oil processing plant to be considered under the Planning Act 2008.
