About this project

RWE Npower had been investigating the feasibility of developing a new 300MW distillate oil-fired open cycle gas turbine (OCGT) plant – the Fawley Oil-Fired Reserve Plant – adjacent to the existing power station.

Following discussions with a range of stakeholders it had planned to undertake public consultation to seek communities’ views on the potential development.

However, in considering a range of options for the future of the Fawley site it has decided not to progress with the Fawley Oil-Fired Reserve Plant proposals at present. It has advised that it is giving further consideration to the site’s future development on the basis that it considers the site suitable for power generation.
